Plastic free groceries

When me and my boyfriend were visiting my aunt in France, I was really amazed by the possibilities to do groceries plastic-free. We went to a local greengrocer, where we became surrounded by dozens of bright colours of all the fresh fruit and veggies. We took a wooden crate (that replaced the plastic bag, how amazing is that!?) and filled it up with everything we needed.

Then we went to the bakery, as we wanted to buy baguettes for breakfast (there is no trip to France without eating a fair amount of baguettes, right?). When we left, I told my boyfriend to stop as I had to make a picture of our beautiful new products. I never enjoyed bringing groceries home so much! We had everything we needed, no plastic, and everything locally sourced! Now, I try to do the same back in the Netherlands. I get my bread at the local bakery and my fruit and vegetables at the local greengrocer. Unfortunately, we don’t have the wooden crates here, so it is a little bit less exciting. However, I do bring my own cotton bags when I do groceries here, so there is still not much waste involved!
